Best Paper Award
15.04.2011: VisCG received an Award for the Best Papers at the IEEE International Symposium on Virtual Reality Innovations (ISVRI) Conference 2011 held in Singapore. Dr. Frank Steinicke presented the paper entitled "Interactive Generation of Virtual Environments using MUAVs". The Co-Authors are Sven Strothoff, Dirk Feldmann, Tom Vierjahn and Sina Mostafawy. The work was conducted in the AVIGLE project.PIVE Workshop
15.12.2010: In cooperation with Prof. Dr. Pete Willemsen from the University of Minnesota Duluth (USA), Frank Steinicke co-organizes a workshop on perceptual Illusions in virtual environments (PIVE) at the IEEE VR 2011 conference. 17.08.2010: In cooperation with Dr. Betty Mohler from the MPI in Tübingen and Gabriel Cirio from INRIA in France, Gerd Bruder will give a tutorial about locomotion techniques for virtual environments at the JVRC 2010 entitled "Walking Experiences in Virtual Worlds". The JVRC 2010 is an international conference and exhibition on virtual reality and will be held in Stuttgart. Subsequent to the tutorial, a guided tour through the Cyberneum in Tübingen with demonstration of the CyberWalk platform will take place.Working Group Meeting "Visual Computing in Medicine"
21.01.2010: The next meeting of the Working Group "Visual Computing in Medicine" of the Gesellschaft für Informatik will take place in Münster on March 17, 2010. From 10:00 to 15:40 several talks about medical visualization and its application will be given in the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Haus. 07.12.2009: In cooperation with Dr. Marc Ernst from the MPI in Tübingen and Dr. Anatole Lecuyer from INRIA in France, Dr. Frank Steinicke will give a tutorial about locomotion techniques for virtual environments at the IEEE VR 2010 entitled "Walking through Virtual Worlds". 20.11.2009: VisCG received the Best Full Paper Award at the 16th ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology VRST 2009 which was held in Kyoto, Japan. Dr. Frank Steinicke presented the paper entitled "Judgment of Natural Perspective Projections in Head-Mounted Display Environments". The work has been co-authored by Gerd Bruder and Klaus Hinrichs from VisCG, Markus Lappe from the psychology department, Scott Kuhl from Michigan Technological University and Pete Willemsen from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. 02.03.2009: The Effective Virtual Environments (EVE) Group from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and VisCG received a Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Advances in Computer-Human Interactions (ACHI), which was held in Cancun, Mexico. Jason Jerald presented the paper entitled “Scene-Motion Thresholds Correlate with Angular Head Motions for Immersive Virtual Environments”. The work has been co-authored by Mary Whitton from EVE and Frank Steinicke from VisCG.PIVE Workshop

31.10.2008: VisCG received an Honorable Mention for the Best Paper at the ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology (VRST) which was held in Bordeaux, France. Frank Steinicke presented the paper entitled “Analyses of Human Sensitivity to Redirected Walking”. The paper has been honoured together with two others articles. Overall, over 150 papers have been submitted to the VRST conference. The work has been done in cooperation with the research group of Prof. Dr. Markus Lappe at the Psychology Department II at the University of Münster, and the Effective Virtual Environments group of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.Diplomandenkolloquium
22.04.2008: Jens Kasten working at the Konrad Zuse-Zentrum für Informationstechnik Berlin (ZIB) will present his diploma thesis "Integration globaler Illuminationsverfahren in ein interaktives Volume Rendering Framework". 07.04.2008: The "PROVISIO software engineering"-Price 2008 for the best diploma thesis was given to Jörg Mensmann, who has written his thesis within the Visualization & Computer Graphics Research Group.Best Paper Award
01.02.2008: VisCG received the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Computer Graphics Theory and Applications (GRAPP), which was held in Funchal, Portugal. Frank Steinicke presented the paper entitled "Augmenting 3D city models with visualization of real-time metereological phenomena". The work has been done in cooperation with the research group of Prof. Dr. Antonio Krüger of the Department of Geoinformatics and the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Group headed by Prof. Dr. Xiaoyi Jiang of the University of Münster. Jan de Buhr, Kai Rothaus, Jörg Mensmann and Klaus Hinrichs have co-authored the paper.Further information can be found here.
